Cyber crime encompasses any criminal act dealing with computers and networks (called hacking). Additionally, cyber crime also includes traditional crimes conducted through the Internet. For example; hate crimes, telemarketing and Internet fraud, identity theft, and credit card account thefts are considered to be cyber crimes when the illegal activities are committed through the use of a computer and the Internet.
Cyber crime has been rampant and one of the fastest growing crime in the country and in the world simultaneous to the modernization and continued discoveries of the latest gadgets and communication in the internet.
Last October 12, 2011 we at Team KTT (and Team CB) along with the other running groups, bloggers and the media were privileged to be invited to the Press Launch of 500K Runners vs Cyber Crime: 1st National Anti-Cyber Crime Fun Run at Dolce, Tomas Morato. This event is set to gunstart at the Quirino Grandstand at 4 in the afternoon.
At the press conference they launched the Singlet design and the race packet contents which includes a phone holder, belt bag and a shoe bag with the race bib and timing device. An open forum also took place where friends from the media and the invited runners asked questions about the race details and their cause.
This event aims to advocate awareness against cybercrimes. They wish to reach 500K runners to participate in this event we all love– FUN RUNNING. That is why they organized and invite all of us to participate to make this monumental event a success.

The Rise of Cybercrimes
“October 12, 2011 – Weconnect. Inc’s Cybercrime Buster officially launched the first ever National Awareness campaign against cybercrimes – 500K Runners vs Cyber Crimes. The fun run advocacy campaign is about letting the public be informed not only about the dangers of online world but also to teach them what they can do when faced with such situation.
According to Weconnect Inc., CEO Mr. Jayant Jared Era, the society has never expected that the on going advancement of modern technology will lead to the rise of cybercrimes – from the development of the Trojan Virus up to the latest hacking cases of big company’s databases.
After the launch, ramp modelling events will be held in Dolce Superclub in Tomas Morato, Quezon City every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of the month od October and November. This is to gather more participants for the main event. The group behind this campaign believes that the gathering more than enough participants all around the globe for the fun run will get event be included in the Guiness Book of World Records. The main event is scheduled on December 10, 2011 at Quirino Grandstand Open Field from 4PM onwards of the aforementioned date. Humble sum of the proceeds will be donated to cause-worthy beneficiaries like Lifeline Foundation and other organization.
With full support coming from the cooperation of PNP-CIDG Angel Net, this anti-cybercrime campaign is expected to be successful event not only in the national but in the international scenario in the years to come or maybe sooner.
